Assoc. prof. Vlad Popovici
PI at "Integrative bioinformatics and biostatistics" research group

Vlad Popovici is Associate Professor with RECETOX at Masaryk University and principal investigator in the Integrative Bioinformatics and Biostatistics group. He graduated with Engineering degree in computer science from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and obtained his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Ecole Polythecnique Federal de Lausanne, Switzerland.

Dr. Popovici has extensive experience in bioinformatics for biomarker discovery and his research focuses on developing new methods for joint analysis of OMICS and imaging data, by combining computational pathology with more traditional bioinformatics approaches. The results are mainly applied to the identification of novel predictors in precision oncology, most notably for colon and breast cancers.

Dr. Popovici authored or co-authored more than 66 papers that were cited >2,500 times for an h-index of 17. He was involved in a number of European and national projects, being PI in an EU-FP7 project, 2 grants of Ministry of Health, one grant of the Czech Grant Agency and he is an Marie-Curie/SoMoPro alumnus.
