Mgr. Richard Hůlek
Data services

Richard Hůlek is head of the Data services Core Facilty. His expertise in IT is wide - from requirements analysis to user interface design; from complex information systems architecture to data visualization. His equivalent position in the private sector, is solutions architect. During project implementation, Richard provides a communication bridge between the contracting team and the team of specialists who carry out the implementation itself, guaranteeing successful integration of technological processes.

His main task, together with a team of software engineers and specialists, is to provide services for the development, customization and integration of information and database systems to key research projects.

Richard Hůlek studied Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, where he focused on combining graphic design and modern information technologies to create interactive visualizations of time and spatial data. Originally he worked at the Masaryk University Institute of Biostatistics and Analyzes. Gradually, he began to focus more on environmental data collection and visualization projects, eventually establishing a new team, which is currently unified as a RECETOX research infrastructure facility - Information Systems.

Richard has been involved in the development of environmental data collection and visualization systems for the GENASIS and Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) projects. In these projects his team ensures data interoperability and a way to technologically connect the international environment to systems such as GEOSS. He also developed the structure and design of the CELSPAC population studies management system. His next big challenge is to modify and optimize processes, procedures and systems across RECETOX to allow unification and extraction data from a single location for obtaining comprehensive answers that cross many disciplines, therby enabling scientists to better assess environmental impact on human health.
