CSI:Environment partner meeting

The Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment hosted pre-final meeting of the CSI:Environment network partners at its premises from June 27rd to 28th, 2014. The aim of the gathering was to take stock of progress of 16 early stage researchers who carry their research and Ph.D studies in chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry and ecotoxicology at one of the partner institutions and who have access to training and expertise in other network partners’ establishments.

Two of the researchers, Céline Degrendelle (environmental chemistry) and Anna Zelmer (photochemistry) are carrying their research at RECETOX. All young researchers presented poster with results of the their research and benefited from lively discussions at both lecture and poster sessions and interaction with supervisors. In addition, the young researchers were also involved in lecturing at a dedicated session of the 10th summer school on toxic compounds held in RECETOX June 23-28, 2014.

Professors Jana Klánová and Petr Klán, representing RECETOX in the CSI network as supervisors have stated: “ The CSI Environment benefit for RECETOX is the fact of being involved in the European network of major universities and economic conditions that offer incentive scholarships for good researchers from all over the world.”

The CSI:ENVIRONMENT is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme operating since November 2010. The network consists of 10 partner institutions (one industrial and nine academic partners) and 4 associated partners from nine EU countries with the aim to train the next generation of environmental scientists in the emerging field of isotope forensics and biogeochemistry. Each one of partner institutions hosts one or more of young researchers and organizes one of the training courses for the network.
