The Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity Building and the Transfer of Technology (SCRC) in the Czech Republic is a body supporting sound chemicals management in the Central and Eastern European region and worldwide.


Regional Centre has three groups of partners – at the Masaryk university, in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Masaryk University partners are namely host institution – the Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment and closely cooperating Institute of Biostatistics and Analyses.

The Czech Republic, in particular its Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic is key partner of the Regional Centre as it provides its long term sustainable financial support. Main actors are technical departments of the Ministry that also supervise implementation of multilateral environmental agreements in th Czech Republic, such as the Stockholm Convention, Rotterdam Convention, Basel Convention, Convention on the Long Range Transboundary Air Pollution, Protection of the Ozone Layer and other global and regional agreements:

And last but not least, activities of the Regional Centre are provided to support partners within its geographical region but also to countries in Africa and Asia. A long term cooperation has been established with a number of other Stockholm Convention Regional Centres (Brazil, Mexico, Spain, India, Russian Federation etc.) and with the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention and other UN institutions.
