RECETOX helps in the capacity building for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and hazardous waste management in Kazakhstan


The three-day national workshop on safe life-cycle management of hazardous waste will take place 13-15 March 2012 in Astana, Kazakhstan in the framework of the "Design and Execution of a Comprehensive PCB Management Plan for Kazakhstan" GEF/UNDP project in partnership with Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A wide range of stakeholders (national, regional authorities, holders of PCB waste, private sector involved in transport, handling and storage of hazardous waste, laboratories and research institutions) will learn from a range of invited experts and companies with a long-term international experience in hazardous waste and specifically PCB management and disposal.
Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) participates in the project and prof. Ivan Holoubek will lecture on "Conducting risk assessment and prioritizing interventions" to increase capacity of Kazachstan in this field.
