Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention organized a global art contest for children and youth on the theme "Stockholm at 10: Chemical Challenges, Sustainable Solutions". Its winners were revealed in Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland at noon today.

Eleven artworks awarded in the national round organized by the Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the National Centre of the Stockholm Convention and the Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) in 2011 were representing the Czech Republic in Geneva very well. We are very happy to report that Mr. Štěpán Kořalka and Ms. Alžběta Baštová received gold medals in the age category 11-15 years and Ms. Kristýna Bláhová won the 16-20 years category. Congratulations!

Total of 160 artworks from 18 countries were submitted to the global round. The jury awarded 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals; and 3 special mentions in the youngest age category (5-10 years). Winning artworks and other submissions are currently exhibited in the Passerelle of Palais des Nations in Geneva until 11 July 2012.
