The Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity Building and the Transfer of Technology (SCRC) in the Czech Republic is a body supporting sound chemicals management in the Central and Eastern European region and worldwide.


Main task of the Regional Centre is to support implementation of the Stockholm Convention as provided in the mandate to the Regional Centres (decisions SC 2/9 and SC-3/19) and support capacity building and transfer of technologies in chemicals management.

  6. Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants

  9. Cooperation and coordination among global legally binding instruments on chemicals management as well as other related tools – synergies

The Regional Centre provides long-term support to 23 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and serves as a strategic scientific partner for over 30 countries in Africa and Asia. The Regional Centre works as a project partner with UNEP, UNIDO and UNDP to build environmental capacities in developing countries. 

Experts of the Centre have been invited to assist with a number of projects identifying the scope of environmental contamination, designing appropriate national framework and laboratory infrastructure, and have been consulted for practical solutions for environmental decontamination and remediation.
