EUROTOX workshop: Advancing Risk Assessment and Compliance with European Regulations

-organised by RECETOX, Masaryk University, in collaboration with the Czech Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, provides advanced training in chemical risk assessment.

The in-person session will take place over three days, 2–4 September 2026, at RECETOX in Brno. The course is designed for approximately 40 participants and is recognised as professional training in toxicology, supporting both initial certification and continuing professional development. The course combines a flexible online theoretical part with a practical in-person part.

The online module enables participants to complete 40–50 hours of training across several blocks. It includes pre-recorded lectures, case studies from previous courses, and four one-hour live online meetings with instructors scheduled between May and June (exact dates to be confirmed).

Participants will also complete individual and group assignments, including case studies, during July and August. An interactive workshop follows the online content to address questions and discuss key points arising from the sessions.

The workshop is about:

The workshop will cover the topics from problem formulation, different methodological approaches in risk assessment, latest advancements in regulatory toxicology, application of regulations and guidelines for different sectors, application of risk assessment in different chemical sectors, principles of risk management, risk perception and risk communication.

The workshop will give a platform to:

Clarify current European regulatory frameworks (REACH, CLP, BPR, etc.);
Address challenges in risk assessment and compliance processes;
Promote networking between industry professionals, regulators, and researchers.

Learning objectives are to:

understand the basic principles and methods used in risk assessment
be able to interpret and assess a risk assessment report
understand the application of risk assessment in different regulatory frameworks
be able to perform a basic risk assessment using toxicological and exposure data
be able to interpret data submitted for the purpose of registration and labelling of different types of chemicals

A certificate (in compliance with ERT certification) will be awarded upon the successful completion of the workshop tasks.

Participants:

The targeted attendees are young researchers, PhD students, postdocs in the field of toxicology, toxicology experts.

Timeline:

The workshop is designed to be conducted in three phases. The first phase will be held online during May and June 2026. The second phase will involve participants completing assigned tasks over the summer. The final phase will take place onsite from September 2 – 4, 2026.

Registration fee:

Academia 150 EUR
Industry 200 EUR

Registration fee covers course materials, lunches, coffee breaks, and a certificate.

The total length of the application should not exceed 5 pages. After the selection of candidates, the applicants will be informed via email. Selected applicants will subsequently receive a registration link.
