EIRENE Implementation Project (IMP) Selected for Horizon Europe Funding: Paving the Way Toward the EIRENE ERIC
The European research community has taken a landmark step toward advancing infrastructure for environmental health and exposome science.
Brno Living Lab (BLL), initiated by the RECETOX Centre at Masaryk University, has officially become a member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). The decision was confirmed during the ENoLL General Assembly on December 15, 2025. Brno Living Lab now joins a global community of more than 200 active Living Labs dedicated to open innovation and citizen-driven research.
What does this mean for Brno?
Membership in ENoLL opens doors to international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and participation in European projects shaping innovation policies. “Our acceptance is a recognition of our long-term efforts to connect science with real-life needs and to foster sustainable urban development,” says Ondřej Mikeš, Manager of BLL.
About Brno Living Lab
Founded in 2020 as part of RECETOX, BLL serves as a collaborative platform bridging academia, public authorities, businesses, and citizens. Its mission is to improve quality of life through innovations in health, environment, and smart technologies. The Lab has delivered projects such as AIRSENS (air quality monitoring), BENCHMARKS (soil health assessment), and long-term cohort studies under CELSPAC.
Why is this important?
Joining ENoLL provides Brno with access to European methodologies, training programs, and strategic partnerships, strengthening its position as an innovative city. Brno Living Lab is now part of a global movement promoting open innovation, citizen participation, and sustainable development.
