Junior PI - Integrative bioinformatics and biostatistics

Petra Videnska is a junior PI in the Integrative bioinformatics and biostatistics research group. Within the groups, she leads the group focusing on the research of microbiome and also leads the microbiome lab of RECETOX Research infrastructure. She has an expert knowledge of next generation sequencing, mainly applied in microbiome studies. Petra Videnska received her Ph.D. degree from Masaryk University in 2014. After finishing the postgraduate study, she left the academia and worked as an application specialist for the Illumina sequencing instruments. She also worked as a head of sequencing and research laboratory.

Her responsibilities comprise leading of the microbiome research lines, optimization of sample collection and processing, interpretation of results, training, grant proposal development and teaching advanced courses (Metagenomics) for master students of Microbiology. In addition, she cooperates on a number of additional projects which connect the microbiome and human health (such as colon cancer, bacteria antibiotic resistance etc.).

She published 19 papers in peer-reviewed JCR‑SCI journals (h-index=8, 165 citations without self-citations).
