Date&Time: December 9, 9:00
Venue: D29/252 (RCX1)
Doc. Mgr. Roman Grabic, Ph.D. (University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Czech Republic)
Topic: “Quo Vadis, environmental analytical chemistry? Past, recent, and future challenges in analyzing organic pollutants in the environment”
Annotation:
The lecture will summarize the development of organic pollutant analysis across environmental matrices with an emphasis on mass spectrometric detection. Past challenges, stemming from the selectivity and sensitivity of targeted detection and quantification, were transformed into insufficient information delivered by multiresidue analysis, particularly regarding observed pollution effects on living organisms. Consequent progress in high-resolution mass spectrometry has resulted in complex data that are challenging to interpret. Recent and future developments in environmental analytical chemistry are closely connected with new approaches for data evaluation and prioritization, employing sophisticated software tools, computational chemistry, modelling and AI.
