Student Svitlana Kotserzhynska: Attending a summer school abroad was an experience I can recommend to everyone
Although the Erasmus+ program undoubtedly reigns in terms of popularity among study stays, it is by no means the only way to travel abroad through your home university while studying. Students can also gain insight into their field and draw inspiration from elsewhere through summer schools. Svitlana Kotserzhynska spent two and a half weeks at the University of Zagreb in Croatia, returning enriched not only with a lot of valuable insights but also with new contacts.

At the University of Nairobi, an exhibition on cooperation in Africa was inaugurated
On February 6, 2025, the campus of the University of Nairobi hosted the ceremonial opening of an exhibition on RECETOX activities in Africa over the past 15 years, prepared by the Regional Centre for the Stockholm Convention (SCRC) in 2024.

Moldova Refines Inventory and Submits Plan for Complete Elimination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls Equipment
Moldova has become the first of eight pilot countries to complete the project of refining the inventory of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB). Support for implementation was provided by the Stockholm Convention Regional Centre (SCRC) from RECETOX. The closing meeting was attended by more than 30 participants.

Students from the sports gymnasium will assist scientists in collecting air quality data in Lužánky Park
In January 2025, a new international project called DTRIP4H was launched, involving the RECETOX center. The RECETOX center will focus on creating a case study aimed at improving the assessment of exposure to airborne dust in Brno. Initial testing will take place on a small scale in the Lužánky park area. Students from the sports gymnasium will assist scientists with data collection.

Congratulations to Dr. Pavla Fialová who has been awarded MSCA Global Postdoctoral Fellowship with her project AQUAGloCon: Global Distribution Assessment of Contaminants of Emerging Concern in the Aquatic Environment (under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Branislav Vrana).
In the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 call, the European Commission received 9,323 proposals for European Fellowships and 1,037 proposals for Global Fellowships. From the overall 10,360 submitted proposals, 1,696 outstanding post-doctoral researchers from Europe and beyond will now be able to develop their own projects while receiving high-level training and supervision. In addition, 41 researchers will have the opportunity to conduct their work in countries targeted for increased research integration under the European Research Area (ERA) Fellowships (so-called Widening countries including the Czech Republic). Institutions from the Czech Republic featured in the MSCA-PF 2024 call with 241 project proposals and have been successful with 22 European Postdoctoral Fellowship projects, 3 Global Postdoctoral Fellowships with a return phase in the Czech Republic and 5 ERA Fellowships. MU has received 4 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships and 2 ERA Fellowships.

Timesheets Dear colleagues, The Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe project coordinators would like to remind you of the importance of complying with project obligations and fulfilling the timesheets and other requirements. If you are employed on an H2020 or HEU project, you must fill in the Description of the Work Activity on the Project at the beginning of your involvement with the project. You are also obliged to fill in the monthly Timesheets throughout your involvement with the project. If you are not sure if you are employed on one of the H2020 or HEU projects, or if you want to know more click here. Here you can find the new video manual for filling in the Timesheets. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Mirjana Stanojević or Eva Kuklínková.
ERC If you consider applying for the European Research Council (ERC) grant this year or need any information about ERC grants, please contact Veronika Jálová as soon as possible. You can find useful information at the MU website including the presentation from the workshop on ERC Grant Applications: Strategies, Pitfalls and Best Practices organized by MU on 5 February 2025.
Applicants for Starting and Consolidator grants can participate in preparatory workshops organized by the Czech Expert Group for supporting ERC applicants and Technology Centre Prague. The registration will be open from 10 March to 30 March 2025 (on a first come, first served basis).
