Open Science
Do you publish or produce research data? Do you want to be better prepared for the changes in academic practice? Come and get acquainted with the MUNI 2022-2028 Open Science Strategy, which focuses primarily on Open Access (to scientific publications) and FAIR Data (research data). These topics are currently resonating internationally, in Europe (the European Open Science Cloud initiative or the Horizon Europe framework program), and gradually also nationally.
What is the goal of MUNI’s Open Science Roadshow?
- Introduce a draft university strategy and collect your feedback, which will significantly contribute to its finalization and early submission for approval by the MU management. We will present the proposed steps and the main principles of Open Science as a new type of infrastructure of advanced scientific services.
- Use this unique opportunity to influence the university’s direction in Open Science by providing the faculty’s perspective.
The Faculty of Science’s academic community meeting will take place online using the MS Teams application on May 18, 2021, from 13:00 to 15:00. Register for the event HERE (for your convenience, the event link will be sent a day before). Direct access to the virtual room can be found HERE.

Singapore patent: Thermostable FGF2 Polypeptide
Congratulations to our colleagues from Loschmidt Laboratories and Enantis for obtaining a patent in Singapore for their invention entitled "Thermostable FGF2 Polypeptide" for enhancing the Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2).
FGF2 shows significantly higher temperature stability than its original wild-type predecessor and can be applied in cell biology, regenerative medicine, or cosmetics.

Remuneration for SOČ
Secondary school professional activities (SOČ) are practical or theoretical activities completed by secondary school students, which they perform in addition to their regular studies in cooperation with an expert, e.g., from a university. Thanks to SOČ, students perform work that will potentially lead them to a scientific career. For this reason, among others, RECETOX supports SOČ.
The current list of topics implemented in our Center and further information about SOČ can be found HERE.
We thank this year's awardees for their activity and congratulate them on their defended work; they can look forward to the reward in May.
If you are interested in listing a topic for SOČ or your topic SOČ is missing from the list, please contact Kateřina Nováková.

Mobile phone numbers and parking revision
In April, the working SIM cards (mobile phone numbers) and parking lots of the Center were revised. Employees affected by the change are contacted individually by Alena Bečková.
To increase the efficiency, safety and serviceability of the Center, the following changes will take place in the parking, with effect from 1 June 2021:
1. For D29, a parking place is created for sampling techniques in the arrive - load / unload - depart mode
2. The opening of the D29 garage door will only be permitted to persons parking in the garage and to the staff providing the supplies, due to the high failure rate and cost of door repairs. Others can walk through the door in the garage door.

Tentative dates of ERC calls for 2022
The European Research Council (ERC) has announced tentative dates for next year's open calls in order to give applicants an idea of the timeframe. The calls for Starting Grants and Consolidator Grants are expected to open already in autumn 2021 with deadlines at the beginning of 2022. The ERC Work Programme 2022 is not yet approved, thus the dates indicated for the 2022 calls are tentative and subject to change.
The Technology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences will organize a National information day on ERC calls for 2022 in September 2021.
