Press release: New Research Reveals Pesticide Mixtures Widespread in Environment, Urging Enhanced Regulatory Measures
A groundbreaking study from the SPRINT project, funded by the European Union's Horizon program, has unveiled a concerning reality: pesticide residues are pervasive in both agricultural environments and residential settings, raising concerns for environmental and human health. These findings, which have significant implications for European Union decision-makers, emphasise the urgent need for comprehensive regulatory measures to address the potentially far-reaching impacts of the co-occurrence of pesticides.

PRESS RELEASE Masaryk University scientists measure air quality and assess its impact on human health
Air quality measurements are currently being carried out in six municipalities in the South Moravian Region and in two districts of Brno. During the heating season we measure dust particles in order to investigate pollutants that come from local household heating. This currently represents one of the main air problems in the Czech Republic. The most problematic are old solid fuel boilers in which people burn what they shouldn't.

Nina Pálešová became the winner of the Science Slam
RECETOX scientist Nina Pálešová was the winner of Science Slam 14, a science-popularization competition in which four female scientists from Masaryk University shared their research in an entertaining way.

Brno Living Lab: together we strive for healthy soil in Brno gardens
60-70% of soils in the EU are in poor condition. This alarming fact led the EU to launch the Soil Mission to improve the health of European soils. Our team is involved in the international research project BENCHMARKS, which aims to develop tools to assess soil health and find ways to address this situation. We held our first workshop on this issue, introducing stakeholders to soil issues and engaging them on key questions related to urban soil health. The following survey on soil quality in allotments will be RECETOX's next contribution to the Brno Living Lab.

Martin Toul wins the Doctorandus Prize in this year’s Česká hlava Awards
The Doctorandus Prize is awarded to young scientists for research in the natural sciences. Martin was awarded for his research into the functions of the protein staphylokinase, which is used to treat stroke.

Technology from Loschmidt Labs succeeds at Transfer Technology Day 2023
The expert jury of scientific and investor representatives awarded the research on luminous enzymes second place. 28 technologies were entered into the competition, 12 of which made it to the final round.
