Objectives of the Regional Centre

Support implementation of the requirements and measures in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (in line with decisions SC-2/9 and SC-3/9) and build capacities for POPs monitoring, data analysis, risk assessment, environmental modelling, data analyses, ecotoxicology and risk assessment.
Enhance implementation of Minamata, Rotterdam and Basel Conventions and strengthen SAICM beyond 2020 global chemicals management
Contribute to finding solutions of triple planetary crisis (jointly addressing pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss)
Strengthen laboratory infrastructures and networks and contribute to efficient data management and use by developing global environmental database systems
Promote policies to minimise human exposure to toxic chemicals
