Change in Business Travel Documentation Requirements
Based on the new Methodological Sheet 2/2025 EO RMU and in line with MU's strategic objective, a scan or photograph of an original document can now also be considered a valid electronic document.
It is essential that the attached scan within the Inet travel form is clearly legible.
The original document must be retained until is approved by the financial control after trip, so that it can be presented to the Economic Department in case of any uncertainties.

Travel order - three financing options
Dear colleagues,
please note that purchases under travel orders can be made independently - all expected costs just need to be indicated in the travel order (i.e. conference fee, poster, air tickets, accommodation). A financial advance of up to 100% will be credited to your account within 2 working days after the approval of the travel order. If you prefer travel costs order through the Purchasing Department, please contact us after the travel order has been approved to create and approve the purchase order. Without an approved travel order, we cannot order anything for you.
Please place your travel order in advance so everything can be arranged (at least 14 days in advance). The purchases options which can be used in travel order are shown in the attached diagram.
Thank you.

Substances known by the abbreviation PFAS are a large group of widely used, industrially produced chemicals that accumulate in the human body and the environment. They are almost non-degradable by natural processes, which is why they are often called 'eternal chemicals.' The Committee on Regional Development, Public Administration, and the Environment of the Senate of the Czech Republic organized a seminar on the issue.

Comprehensive characterization of human exposome - a first step to translate its potential into medicine and public health practice - demands a coordinated international effort involving governments, organizations, scientists, funders, the technology sector and the public. The Exposome Moonshot Forum held in the Bloomberg Centre in Wahington, D.C. in May 12-15, 2025 aimed to gather these diverse stakeholders to collaboratively translate the exposome from concept to utility.

As the polar regions are becoming more accessible and polar tourism rises, so does cruise ship traffic—and with it, wastewater discharges into some of Earth’s most fragile ecosystems. A new study conducted by RECETOX center in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Water Research analyzed treated wastewater from three expedition cruise ships and found over 160 chemical compounds.

High temperatures are a significant risk factor for human health. In 2022 and 2023 alone, they were responsible for more than 109,000 deaths in Europe, and this number is expected to rise significantly in the coming years. The trend of rising temperatures will also have a significant impact on the workload of emergency medical services, according to a study involving researchers from RECETOX centre.

Other news
Two EC-funded Projects Successfully Completed on 31 May 2025 We are pleased to announce the successful completion of two EC-funded projects partnered by our institution: PAPILLONS and EOSC4Cancer.
PAPILLONS (H2020, Plastic in Agricultural Production: Impacts, Life-cycles and LONg-term Sustainability), principal investigator prof. RNDr. Jakub Hofman, Ph.D. Over four years, the project explored the environmental and socioeconomic sustainability of agricultural plastics (APs), focusing on the release and impact of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) in European soils. The project delivered the first European digital atlas of AP use and waste, advanced understanding of MNP behaviour in soil, and developed cutting-edge methods for their detection. PAPILLONS brought together experts and stakeholders to support sustainable farming and policy innovation.
EOSC4Cancer (HEU, A European-wide foundation to accelerate Data-driven Cancer Research), principal investigator prof. RNDr. Jana Klánová, Ph.D. The project contributed to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by making high-quality cancer research data – including genomic, imaging, clinical, environmental and socioeconomic data – accessible across borders via a federated infrastructure. The project laid the foundation for future cancer mission efforts by supporting secure data sharing, developing community-driven analysis tools, and fostering collaboration among research institutes, hospitals and supercomputing centres in 14 European countries.
We thank all team members for their great work and dedication throughout the projects!
Upcoming DISCERN Annual Meeting in Brno The Annual Meeting of the Horizon Europe project DISCERN will take place on 4–5 June 2025 at Masaryk University. The programme will begin with a workshop on colorectal cancer and continue with project discussions involving representatives from partner institutions.
