CELSPAC "Meeting of Generations" at the Brno Science Festival
Every year, scientists from the RECETOX Research Centre participate in the Brno Science Festival – a three-day event dedicated to promoting science. However, this year's festival, held at the Brno Exhibition Centre, was unique for the center. On Saturday, September 10, 2022, as part of the festival, CELSPAC population studies participants met in the Rotunda of the convention center. The "Meeting of Generations" celebrated three decades since the population studies were established in Brno.

RECETOX at ICRI
Masarykova univerzita, within the Czech Presidency in the EU, organizes International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI). The event will take place in Brno from 19. to 21. October and will host about 450 researchers and research infrastructure experts, who will discuss the societal challenges and questions, such as pandemics, environmental protection or digitization.
RECETOX contributes to the ICRI programme significantly. We will ceremonially open the CELSPAC Biobank, and organize the event on Addressing a Challenge of Human Exposome. Both events will take place in the Bohunice Campus.

Young and old tried their hand at being environmental scientists at the Researchers' Night
After two years online, Researchers' Night was once again held in the buildings of scientific organizations and universities. On Friday evening, 30 September 2022, visitors came to Masaryk University to get first-hand experience of what it is like to be a researcher. This year's Researchers' Night themed "All the Senses" introduced science as a discovering tool for everything that remains undetected by human senses.

EIRENE PPP project starts
During the International ICRI conference, RECETOX will kick-off the EIRENE Preparatory Phase Project, which is intended to prepare the structure and environment for running the European research infrastructure of EIRENE. The project with twenty partners from EU, UK and USA, coordinated by RECTOX, has already started in October. More information about the project on the EIRENE website.

Cooperation with secondary schools
This school year, we will offer lectures for students of secondary schools' 3rd and 4th grades to promote our study programs. The lectures will be held at schools or online (for more distant schools). If you are interested in getting involved, add your topic to the list in this file. We also ask you to check if the topics from the previous year are still actual. Thank you for your consideration and help.
Students` Professional Activities (SPA, SOČ) is another way to reach high school students and get them excited about science. Topics are usually listed in January, and students hand in their work in January of the following year. However, if you already have a topic and would like to reach out to students sooner, please get in touch with Rozárka Jílková.

New occupational health and safety specialist
The Centre has new occupational health and safety specialist, she is MSc. Andrea Klimková. Her role is more dedicated to the health and safety agenda. Your needs about facility management send to the leader of the Operational department, Tomáš Koláček.

Partnership for Biodiversity Call 2022 - is focused on research in the field of biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem change. The aim of the challenge is to improve our understanding of the status, trends and dynamics of biodiversity in all environments: terrestrial and marine as well as freshwater systems. Just like last year, this challenge also serves as a tool of the Biodiversity strategy for 2030, and thus of the European Green Deal. Deadline is November 9, 2022.
