SCIENCE has published a call from scientists to create a global intergovernmental science-policy body for chemicals and waste

Science-policy interactions and the environmental and health impacts of chemicals are very limited and fragmented. Therefore, an international group of scientists, including Martin Scheringer from
RECETOX, proposes creating a global intergovernmental scientific and political body like the Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which conceived, for example, the Paris agreement. The proposal was published in the prestigious journal
Science.

Passive sampling as non-invasive monitoring of water quality

Foppe Smedes, a recognized member of the research group of Dr. Branislav Vrana at RECETOX, summarised 25 years of his research and experiences on passive sampling in the form of a dissertation thesis, which was recently defended at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Number of applicants for bachelor's studies at RECETOX

This year, 263 high-school graduates submitted applications to our bachelor's degree programs - 99 to the Environment and Health program, and 164 to the Mathematical Biology and Biomedicine program (67 and 97 to the Epidemiology and Modeling, and Biomedical Bioinformatics subspecialties, respectively).

Internal information

Employee testing on SARS-COV-2

Starting on Wednesday, March 17, only employees who have negative PCR or antigen test results for COVID that are not older than seven days are allowed to enter the workplace.

Exempted from the testing obligation are employees who:

(a) have undergone COVID-19 disease confirmed by a laboratory, their isolation period has ended, have no symptoms of disease, and there are no more than 90 days between the first RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 or the POC antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 antigen;

b) have a certificate issued by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic for vaccination against COVID-19, and at least 14 days have elapsed since the second dose of vaccine in the case of a two-dose schedule, or at least 14 days have elapsed since the first dose of vaccine in the case of a single dose and the person does not show any symptoms of COVID-19.

Testing can be done at either the testing centre or by using a self-test.

How to apply for and track home office work correctly

We remind you of the current rules of using the home office work valid for all non-academic staff of the centre, including employed PhD students. In the first step, apply for home office work in advance in INET as you apply for a leave. In the application, select the request for "h - home office full-day" and the Interval, e.g. two weeks, or only selected days, then Save it. After approval by the manager, the Home Office will be automatically transferred to your Working Hours Records, where at the end of the month, you check up everything and Confirm the month.

If you eventually come to work (office or lab), just Delete the Home office for that day from your Working Hours Records and fill it in as standard day. More details about the home office work available at RECETOX Intranet.

This call supports industrial research and experimental development and the principal applicant is the company (that has not drawn public support for research and development over 1 million CZK in last five years), and the research organization is in the role of another participant.

  • Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF)

    The MSCA Work Programme 2021-2022 has not been approved yet but the first call for Postdoctoral Fellowships (former Individual Fellowships) is expected to open on 15th April and to close on 15th September 2021. Publication of calls is subject to adoption of the MSCA Work Programme by the European Commission that is expected by April 2021.

    INFORMATION SEMINAR:
    In relation to the first call for MSCA-PF, Masaryk University organizes a MSCA-PF Information seminar on 21st April. At the seminar, you will learn about the essential parameters and rules of MSCA-PF, and the structure and the template of MSCA-PF proposal will be introduced and explained. Registration is necessary.
