Kelsey performed a case study in collaboration with our ESRs Chander Kant Negi and Audrey Phan.The study involved an investigation on the environmental occurrence of flame retardants in the Danube River Basin, followed by environmental risk assessment and mode of action analysis of the prioritized chemicals. My secondment at the RECETOX of the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic was in hybrid form during the period of February 2023 to April 2023. I performed a case study in collaboration with Chander Kant Negi (ERS 4) and Audrey Phan (ESR 8). The study involved an investigation on the environmental occurrence of flame retardants in the Danube River Basin, followed by environmental risk assessment and mode of action analysis of the prioritized chemicals.
The working environment of RECETOX was great, I had the pleasure to present at the RECETOX seminar about my research. It was a great opportunity to learn about the work and projects of various speakers at the seminar. The lovely people at the RECETOX showed me a lot about the Czech culture and food.
The secondment was a valuable addition to my PhD study and future career. I am looking forward to the scientific outcomes of the collaborative study. I would like to thank everyone at the RECETOX for making my stay in Brno so delightful. Special thanks to Prof. Luděk Bláha, Dr. Lisa Melymuk and Dr. Lola Bajard for engaging on the project. Our ESR Chander Kant Negi spend his two months secondment at Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), Oslo in May and June 2023. He focused there on toxicogenomic assays. About his experiences, you can read in this report.
