Hynek Pikhart has become a professor in the field of Environment and Health and is one of eighty-seven newly appointed professors whose appointment decrees were signed based on the proposals of the scientific and artistic councils of universities. Twelve of these new professors come from Masaryk University.
Hynek’s current and past research has focused on within- and between-countries inequalities in health and determinants of health in European populations including research on the measurement of socioeconomic position across the life-course and its relation to health and developmental outcomes, ageing research with focus on statistical methods to investigate longitudinal changes in cognitive and physical functioning, investigation of the role of health behaviours in explaining social variations in health, and evaluating the role of social, behavioural and biological risk factors in Eastern vs. Western European differences in health.
The ceremonial presentation of the appointment decrees took place in the Great Hall of Karolinum in the presence of the Minister of Education, Mikuláš Bek. We warmly congratulate all the newly appointed professors and wish them much success in their careers and personal lives.
