Friday, 13 October 2023, a National inception workshop took place in the frames of the UNEP Global NIP update project, supported by the GEF # 10 785 in Skopje, North Macedonia.
The project meeting was opened by the Minister of Environment and physical planning of North Macedonia, Ms. Kaja Sukova, together with the national focal point of the Stockholm convention, Mr. Alexander Mickovski, and the Director of the Stockholm convention regional centre hosted by RECETOX in the Czech Republic, Ms. Kateřina Šebková.
The RECETOX is acting as an executing agency for the project. The meeting emphasized the importance of bringing knowledge and expertise up to date and also involving all relevant stakeholders. The minister also expressed strong political support to the work. The meeting was lively and agreed on the country work plan, set of deliverables and their timeline, and expert teams for the next two years. The meeting also agreed on activities borne by the expert teams in preparation of chemical inventories for chemicals listed in annexes of the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants and has reviewed progress and shared experience in sound chemical management in North Macedonia over the last five years…
Scientist Luděk Sehnal, a successful applicant for several prestigious scholarships for which he and his family traveled the world, is finishing his work in Germany and plans to return to RECETOX. He wishes to pass on his experience and support the development of excellent science in the Czech Republic.
This June, the 20th-anniversary of summer school and training within the PARC project on chemical exposure and modeling will occur at RECETOX. Remember to register by April 28 via the form.
