EU Green Week 2021 – Zero Pollution
May 31, 2021 marks the beginning of the EU Green Week. It is dedicated to the EU’s ‘zero pollution ambition’ as well as other relevant European Green Deal initiatives, such as the climate initiatives, the upcoming Chemicals Strategy, and initiatives in the energy, industry, mobility, agriculture, fisheries, health and biodiversity fields.
A high-level virtual opening event (31 May) dedicated to Citizen Science for Zero Pollution will take place from Lahti, Finland, followed by a 4-day virtual conference (1-4 June) featuring many thought-provoking topics such as “A healthy environment for healthy lives”, “tackling pollution through Citizen Science: effective actions in the field”, and the LIFE award ceremony – “recognizing the most innovative, inspirational and effective LIFE projects in the fields of natural protection, environment and climate action. In the conference, several of RECETOX’s partners in the URBAN_X project (Roel Vermeulen and Martine Vrijheid) will speak in a session titled “Filling the knowledge gaps on exposure to pollution: a holistic approach with the Human Exposome Network”. Furthermore, a virtual exhibition hall will display interesting projects related to the Zero Pollution Ambition, in which you will be able to ask questions, download documents, view video clips, and speak with the exhibitors. On the Green Week website, you can also find information on how to participate in partner events (3 May – 13 June) taking place across Europe.
