Opinion paper – EU Action Plan Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition for air, water and soil

2 Nov 2020

RECETOX provided feedback to the EC about its Action Plan Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition for air, water and soil.

In 2021, the European Commission will adopt „EU Action Plan Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition for air, water and soil“, which aims to secure healthy ecosystems and a healthy living environment for Europeans – both individuals and populations. The documents follows the Grean Deal strategy, and its main aims are:

  • to better prevent and remedy pollution from air, water, soil, and consumer products
  • to mainstream the zero pollution ambition into all policy developments
  • to further decouple economic growth from the increase of pollution and
  • to strengthen the links between environmental protection, sustainable development and people's well-being

RECETOX, hosting the National Center for Toxic Compounds, which has been involved in research into the impact of the environment on the health of individuals and populations for the long time, has answered the European Commission's call and contributed to the debate on the future shape of this action plan. The European Commission has published the basic principles and main objectives of the plan and provided it as a basis for a public debate in order to receive relevant feedback, which it will consider when formulating the final document. In the first phase, the possibility was opened to publish so-called feedback, which will be followed by a public consultation.

The Opinion paper prepared by the RECETOX is provided below. The other opinions and contributions are available at the website of the European Commission.

Public consultation to this document will be available in a short time. Use your opportunity and give your feedback to the Commission.
